Reflection Class 6715

It was a good strategy for Walden University to have Class 6715 as the final class for Integrating Technology in the Classroom. The class is cutting edge and discusses areas of technology that are very new to my school district. The articles and sites the class gave me will be used many times. Over the summer I will be more closely investigating MUVE’s and how they can be used in my classroom. I think there is a great potential for this type of learning. I need to be more involved with the technology committee in my district. At this time they are making poor decisions based on poor advice from vendors.

For the Week 6 & 7 assignment, I investigated iTouch Apps because we have twenty-five coming next school year and few of the teachers know anything about them and even fewer want to learn. Upon investigation in the Home Ec Curriculum area I have found multiple Apps that are free and should enhance my students learning. This is also 21st Century Technology that can be easily added to the toolbox of technology used in my classes.

Grant writing is something that I have experience in but I know few teachers participate in it. The information on grant writing was an excellent choice to help wrap up our Masters experience. It helps teachers to work from a position of power, rather than a victim of budget cuts.

Reflection Class 6714

The Differentiated Station social networking produced a few websites that I need to further investigate. There were a number of suggestions that would fit well into my classroom. One was tiered lesson plans. Certain groups of students will work on one type of assignment while others work on a different assignment but that produces a similar product of knowledge. Testing of students will also depend on student readiness and will be adjusted accordingly.

For Universal Design for Learning, I felt it was something I had done to accommodate students for years. Upon further investigation I think that I could do a better job with students by dealing with the learning differences and not trying to remediate the student. Also implementing more virtual field trips and videos would help the students who struggle with a textbook. The use of blogs and wiki’s tend to give students who do not participate well in class, more of a voice in their work.
I need to make sure that my students have a variety of projects to choose from to facilitate their learning styles. I haven’t always done this and need to rectify the situation immediately.
